Our Carbon Footprint, Emissions Monitoring & Reductions
Reducing our emissions by effective monitoring is imperative to our journey to net zero.
Our Carbon Footprint
Our immediate focus for summer 2024 is to measure our carbon footprint, allowing us to establish our baseline year and to set meaningful reduction targets which we can measure against our baseline over time as we work towards net zero emissions by 2045.
In setting our footprint, we look forward to seeing – and sharing – the tangible reductions in CO2/e we have already achieved from the emissions reductions steps we have already taken across our own Scope 1 and 2 vehicle & logistics operations and office and warehouse building improvements.
Once established, our focus over 2025 will be to set our mid- and longer-term net zero targets and a clear net zero roadmap of emissions reductions, allowing us to continually measure, monitor and share the progress that we make each year.
Our Emissions Monitoring and Reductions
Driving meaningful change that makes a real impact and difference at our HQ and within our operations is important to us. We are continually looking at improvements through both our vehicle & logistics operations, as well as our office and warehouse building modifications, where we can continue to actively reduce our emissions impact.
Our Fleet
We are currently transitioning our vehicle fleet and streamlining operations to have a lower impact. Our full fleet of trucks and vans are almost now all new, meaning they are more fuel efficient, LEZ compliant and easier to maintain.
Our entire fleet is also wholly owned, with the exception of one vehicle, allowing us to make full decisions on vehicle types utilised by Inverarity Morton for our day-to-day operations. Our fleet has also been updated to include:
- Eight new LEZ compliant Mercedez Euro 6 rated engine 18-ton trucks which are now in operation, with a further two on order.
- Three new Iveco daily vans purchased to replace our old Transit vans, with a further two new Iveco 7.5ton daily vans also in everyday use.
- One EV van now purchased and used for ‘last mile’ local deliveries.
- All but one of our 22 warehouse forklift truck (FLTs) fleet now having transitioned to electric power.
- Twelve new Hybrid powered vehicles for our full Sales Rep team and EV company cars offered to our Executive team as standard, with one currently in use.
Our Logistics
Careful consideration of our logistics operations has resulted in electric vehicle charging points being installed on our site premises for all company vehicles and our warehouse vehicles (FLTs) are now charged off peak to optimise energy demand.
Sea freight is utilised for our supplier deliveries, rather than air freight. We also measure and monitor our fleet fuel use and anticipate associated carbon emissions reductions as we continue to transition our fleet to lower carbon impact transportation.
Our HQ
We have implemented significant building fabric upgrades at our office and warehouse premises to further drive energy and resource efficiencies and minimise our associated emissions impact.
Our office windows have been upgraded and replaced throughout to ensure better building insulation resulting in energy efficiencies and PIR Motion Sensor LED lights have been fitted throughout our office and warehouse building and, since install, the timers on these have been reduced from 10min to 3min.
