Our Resource, Waste and Procurement Principles
Procuring and consuming resources respectfully to maximise efficiency and minimise waste impacts
At Inverarity Morton, resource considerations are intrinsic through our waste management processes concerning glass, paper, cardboard and plastics, highlighting our commitment to avoiding waste generation where possible by minimising the quantity of materials we send to landfill. An ongoing focus on the sustainable procurement of our product ranges as well as our office and warehouse equipment, has begun and will continue to evolve and be embedded into our internal purchasing policies and procedures.
Our Waste Management Processes:
Waste segregation systems are in place throughout both our office and warehouse facilities and glass, cardboard, paper and plastics recycling bins are in place throughout.
Additionally, cardboard and polythene bailing machines have been purchased for our warehouse, with the purpose of further compacting waste for collection and a crusher is used for general waste compaction before uplift, thus further minimising bulk alongside an FEL skip for minimal general waste collection.
A system was introduced for plastic label back disposal within our warehouse, resulting in the recycling of hundreds of thousands of labels each year and our print materials have been replaced with digital brochures and sales collateral where possible, further reducing waste.
Excess pallet collection & recycling practices are in place, ensuring pallets are not discarded to general waste and landfill and we also collaborate with Valpak directly to ensure full environmental packaging material compliance.
Our Procurement Principles:
We consciously purchase local artisan produce from over 50 local Scottish suppliers as well as several purpose-focused wine ranges, including Sea Change and Let it Bee, which directly drive environmental charity impact by way of a monetary donation for every bottle sold.
We carry and offer a large list of vegan, vegetarian and organic wines with around 35% of our current wine portfolio being either vegan (17%), vegetarian (13%) or organically certified (5%). A small % of our wines are also now low or no alcohol and we are very proud to work directly with a current total of 17 global B Corp Certified companies, including Bruichladdich, Sipsmith, Champagne Bollinger, Brewgooder and Concha y Toro.
Our Key Resource Solutions:
Our warehouse employee uniforms are produced from recycled materials and all employees are provided with a reusable water bottle and access to a plumbed-in drinking water supply, reducing the volume of single use drinking vessels through our workplace waste systems.
Our event name badges are now plastic free and over the course of the coming 12 months we will be implementing our ‘Sustainable Event & Venue Management’ principles to lower the impact from our trade event operations.
