Glen Scotia Campbeltown Malts Festival Release
Glen Scotia Limited Edition Whisky
Glen Scotia, a distinguished name in the world of Scotch whisky, hails from Campbeltown—a region that was to become the “Victorian Whisky Capital of the World.” Established in 1832, Glen Scotia has weathered the ebbs and flows of the whisky industry, standing resilient where many others have faded into history. Today, it remains one of the last three operating distilleries in Campbeltown, a testament to its enduring legacy and the unwavering spirit of its community.

A Legacy Rooted in Campbeltown
Campbeltown, nestled on Scotland‘s west coast, was historically a bustling hub for whisky production. During the 19th century, this small town was home to nearly 30 distilleries, earning its name as the whisky capital. Glen Scotia emerged during this golden era and has become a custodian of the region’s rich whisky heritage. The distillery’s enduring presence offers a window into the traditional methods and distinctive styles that once defined Campbeltown malts.
Introducing the Glen Scotia Campbeltown Malts Festival 2025 Bottling
In celebration of the Campbeltown Malts Festival, Glen Scotia unveils its annual limited-edition release. These bottlings are intriguing, bold and appeal to those looking to be wonderfully surprised. This year’s release is no exception: using heavily peated spirit, 2025’s Malts Festival Bottling highlights a spirit type not commonly released by the distillery. Glen Scotia’s peated production last just four weeks of the year and their heavily peated single malt uses barley peated to 50ppm using highland peat. Master Distiller Iain Macalister describes the heavily peated spirit as having a beautiful balance of sweet peat, over ripe fruits, and a distinctive Campbeltown salinity.

Maturation and Finish
This exceptional 9 year old Glen Scotia expression begins its journey in first-fill bourbon barrels, imparting creamy vanilla notes intertwined with the distillery’s signature maritime character. The whisky then undergoes a five-month finishing period in the finest Ribera del Duero red wine casks. This unique maturation process transforms the spirit, introducing layers of ripe red fruit, juicy blackberry, and a subtle whisper of liquorice. The interplay between the peat smoke and the rich fruit notes culminates in a luxurious, velvety finish that lingers on the palate.
